When running out of storage capacity, Synology RX1217RP provides an easy way to immediately scale capacity by additional 12 drives. The RAID volume on the Synology RackStation can be expanded directly without having to reformat the existing drives, ensuring the Synology RackStation continues its service during the capacity expansion. Synology RX1217RP can be used as a dedicated local backup solution for the Synology RackStation. When created as a separate volumeRX1217RP provides a great backup solution to its local drives in case of system failure.

Synology 2U RackStation securely connects RX1217RP with a high-bandwidth expansion cable, that ensures maximum throughput. It allows the drives in the connected RX1217RP to operate as they are the internal ones of the Synology RackStation, with no lag in data retrieval. With SATA 6 Gb/s interface support, Synology RX1217RP unleashes the full performance of the installed drives and provides outstanding data transfer rate. To ensures 24/7 service uptime, Synology RX1217RP is equipped with redundant power supply units, allowing automatic fail-over support, if one of the PSUs is failed.

Green and easy to manage

Deep Sleep can be manually configured to take effect automatically, when the system has been inactive for a period of time. This not only saves energy, but also extends the lifespan of the drives. RX1217RP also powers on/off with the attached RackStation, so no user intervention is needed to keep the system running smartly and efficiently.
