Description

Visibility

NVIDIA Spectrum switches support detailed and contextual telemetry with NVIDIA What Just Happened (WJH). WJH significantly reduces troubleshooting time by immediately providing all the necessary information as soon as a problem occurs. Spectrum switches implement hardware-accelerated histogram tracing and summarize queue depths with sub-microsecond granularity. Hardware-accelerated histograms avoid false alerts, which are frequent in simple watermarking and threshold-based methods.

Performance

NVIDIA Spectrum switches feature a fully shared, monolithic packet buffer architecture. This superior buffer architecture provides a balanced, predictable, high-performance data path that is essential for scaling software-defined storage and modern multi-tenant cloud deployments. Spectrum switches provide a robust high-bandwidth, low-latency data path for direct access to remote storage by RoCE and machine learning applications leveraging GPUDdirect.

Scalability

NVIDIA Spectrum switches support state-of-the-art VXLAN with superior tunnel and endpoint support. The 256 thousand shared forwarding entries can be flexibly used in access control lists (ACLs), longest prefix matching paths (LPMs), host paths, MAC tables, and Equal Cost Multi-Path (ECMP) and tunnel applications.
